Week 6

Over the Christmas break i have struggled to get copious amounts of production work completed as i previously mentioned the filming date and internal deadline was a large inconvenience because i had to focus my time primarily on my January exams but as these are coming to a close i can continue working on the production.

During lesson times that i am in we have been working on production and planning and during one free period Chelsea and myself sat down together to discuss and plan in words only the storyboard for which i am to complete before the production and hopefully have some images by the end of the week. We also researched some costumes together for the female singers to wear. As the women vary in size it is going to be difficult to get the same outfit which is a convention of Motown bands which is something we wish to emulate but fortunately we have been given a contact from our teacher who maybe able to help us with costumes on a professional capacity.

On todays lesson Molly was away. As she is producer she would have had the answers from Ian that were sent via email. I sent her a text to ask for these answers which came with a reply saying that no email has been received. To overcome this Chelsea and myself went to phone Ian, i went for moral support. Chelsea again asked the questions that were in the email and some that concerned her design tasks and answers were given. I kept Molly updated via text as to what is happening.

Unfortunately we found that we could not use the Peppercorns studio in St. Neots so have had to compromise to use the school hall. This is better logistically for us but it is a shame that the school hall is quite shabby and more technically deficient. There are greater things for us to prepare for now such as removing an awful painting that is currently the backdrop with something that conforms to conventions and that will complement our video.

From a directing perspective i am not worried about the location at all because the video isn't going to contain a narrative and is going to be performance lead which will involve much of the same set up and construction as of that we were to use in St. Neots. One thing that does concern me is that we were told that the three female singers were going to have an equal amount of solo vocals in the song but since receiving the recording i have found that only one woman is doing all of the singing and the other two are pretty much acting as back up singers. This is difficult because they want to be represented as a band and since neither of the two ladies who aren't acting as the lead sing a line by themselves i'm struggling to find a solution.
