Week 5

At the beginning of the week the group was no further with answers from the band and were getting in danger from falling drastically behind. All of the group members are ready for work but have nothing as of yet to plan for.

On Monday two representatives of the band came into school although one was involved with many of the other groups. Ian who is the drummer for the band that we have been assigned to work for had not yet discussed any of the questions that the group had asked Molly to send him with the rest of the band so yet again another stumbling block for us. Chelsea has come up with a name and some design ideas which were discussed with the Ian and some ideas will need adjusting to suit the band such as appearance and costume design but this i due to circumstances out of our control. The name "The Harmonettes" was accepted by Ian and he quite liked it.

As previously mentioned Chelsea and myself went to see Mr Shepperd our media studies teacher as we were worried about the dis-organisation of the band and the adverse effects it will have on our band. At this band we were all waiting for conformation so we could begin planning. At this discussion Mr Shepperd told us the we were to go with the original song choice of "Single Ladies" by Beyonce and that this was final. Also we were also told 4 weeks into the project that it is not uncommon for Ian to be disorganised which doesn't really help the group as we are heavily relying on him to organise the remaining 6 members of the band as he is our representative for them.

Back to class on Monday and to the meeting with Ian he tells us that the band will most definitely not be doing "Single Ladies" as Monday night is their first ever rehearsal date and the majority of the band is not knowledgeable of the song and that they do not have time to learn a new song so two new songs were put forward which were "The Shoop Shoop Song" and "Brass In Pocket" which were expecting to be confirmed by Tuesday via email from Molly.

In Tuesdays lesson there is still no contact from Ian and we waited and waited and it took out teacher to ring him for some answers so that we could get going after so many delays. Finally the following conformations were made;
- The song, "The Shoop Shoop Song"
- The name, "The Harmonettes"
- A filming date, Sunday 23rd January 2011.

Although this filming date was not one we originally discussed we have little option but to work ourselves around it. A location to film was brought up by both Mr Shepperd and Ian at Peppercorns in Eaton Socon which is yet to open. Ian said he would look into using their premises as he is friendly with the owner/ manager. But with a budget of zero this could be an great opportunity we will have to let go as well as having to rely on Ian to make contact. Fortunately "The Shoop Shoop Song" will still work quite well for us as Chelsea has made emphasis to go for a Motown appearance for the band and they have very similar appeal to each other both musically and aesthetically.

Problems that may arise on the day of filming are that many members of our band are involved in another so it has been decided that we will share a day to film. There are many problems with this which are that the expected filming time for a music video is a whole day, from morning untill night, and we only have half of this. Sharing members of the band on one day may cause a lot of un-nessacry stress for both them and the production team. Also if one group over-runs on time it will set us back as we are filming in the afternoon/ evening/ night. Also there will be many similarities in the music video's unless there is drastic scenery changes. However on the plus side if members from the other group are there at the shoot there is more pairs of hands to help us film if they are willing.

Finally after much time and delay Molly received the images of the 3 female singers via email and put them on Facebook for the group to see. I was notified by Chelsea as to where they were by Twitter.
